Menstrual hygiene is often overlooked in many communities, particularly for girls from underprivileged backgrounds. These girls may not have access to sanitary napkins, leading to health problems and absenteeism from school. Bhatia’s initiative seeks to close this gap by providing sanitary napkin vending machines that make these essential products available at an affordable price. With easy access to hygiene products, girls can manage their menstrual health more effectively, reducing the likelihood of health complications and school absences.

Bhatia’s project also promotes awareness about menstrual hygiene and its importance in maintaining overall health. The installation of vending machines in schools helps normalize conversations about menstrual health, encouraging young girls to prioritize their well-being.

This is not the first time Bhatia has taken steps to give back to the community. During the recent Durga Puja festivities, he distributed thousands of face masks to help curb the spread of COVID-19. He has also organized food distribution drives to support families in need in Kolkata.

Bhatia’s life journey has been one of overcoming immense challenges. His book Indicting Goliath details his 13-year battle against false accusations in the United States, [Reference Court Cases: CR-04-40071-CW, CR-05-00334-SBA, CV-09-05581-SBA and CV-10-00072-SBA] during which he fought to prove his innocence. After returning to India, Bhatia shifted his focus to social causes, using the proceeds from his book to support initiatives that benefit the underprivileged.

Through his work, Bhatia is addressing key public health issues and making a positive difference in the lives of young girls in West Bengal. His efforts to provide sanitary napkin vending machines are part of a larger mission to promote health and dignity for all.
